Closed Approach Rhinoplasty
During the application, we make a professional decision about whether the nose surgery will be closed or open. We more oftenly prefer the closed approach.
What is Closed Approach Rhinoplasty?
Closed approach nose surgery is an aesthetic operation that allows the nose to be corrected in terms of shape and health problems, without making incisions and stitching.
It is possible to examine closed rhinoplasty in 2 basic ways.
In the simple, minimally-changeable type of rhinoplasty, a 3-5 mm piece is removed from the upper side of the nasal wing cartilage without the nasal tip cartilages being visible. If there is a nasal hump, it is removed and the nasal bones are narrowed. Grafts are not used. Since the procedure is performed without a vision, there is little control on the operation. The procedure can be completed in about 1-1.5 hours.
Another application of closed rhinoplasty is made by delivering the nasal cartilages from the incision made into the nose. During all these processes; procedures are applied as if the operation is performed with the open technique. The nasal hump is removed, and the lights formed on the nose in accordance with the natural structure are recreated. Compared to the other technique, it is more controlled since all cartilages can be seen. Today, this technique is called mixed rhinoplasty.
If rhinoplasty surgery is performed without seeing the nasal cartilages, it is very difficult to keep the operation under control. However, in the delivery technique, all areas are visible. It is more advantageous than the open technique. Because in the open technique, while you can see the cartilages wider, they can be separated from the skin. In mixed rhinoplasty, both skin and cartilage are taken into consideration at the same time, and procedures such as removing the nasal hump more, and raising or lowering the nose tip during the operation will be more successful than the open technique. Since the nose is always in front of your eyes from the beginning to the end of the operation; it is possible to follow the shape it takes step by step.
What are the Benefits of Closed Rhinoplasty?
Nasal aesthetics performed in the form of a closed approach have many benefits. We have the opportunity to list these benefits as follows;
- Closed nose surgery has the feature of healing in a shorter time.
- It is an operation performed in a shorter time.
- Redness and bruising are not common.
- There is not much pain after the operation.
Due to such benefits, closed-type nose surgeries usually come to the forefront. Although it is a suitable procedure for most nose operations, it can sometimes be inappropriate for some noses. First of all, it is necessary to look at the structure of the nose and then determine it.
